FlexCNC Daily Maintenance Tips

The machines you use to run your business must be kept in good working condition. Failure to do so could end up costing you in the long run. Here are a few daily maintenance tips to help you keep your FlexCNC in tip-top condition.

Check Oil Concentration

At the beginning of each shift or whenever you top off your coolant tank, you want to check the oil concentration in your coolant. If your coolant is too lean, you will have problems with rust on the machine bed and parts, and it can also result in shorter tool life. If it’s too thick, you will have issues with the coolant nozzles’ flow.

Wipe Down Light Curtains or Proximity Scanners

With a towel and mild cleaner, wipe down the light curtains and proximity scanners. Doing so will prevent unwanted alarm triggers throughout the shift.

Check HMI Track

Check your HMI track for chips and debris. Keeping it clear will ensure that the bearings will have a long extended life.

Take the Tool Out of the Spindle

At the end of the shift, take the tool out of the spindle. This prevents the tool from getting stuck in the spindle overnight. It’s also best practice to spray your spindle with a light oil such as WD-40.

Hit E-Stop Before Shutting Down Machine

Before shutting down the machine, be sure to hit the E-stop button first. Then you can go ahead and exit out of your operating systems. Next, you go to the start menu and select shut down. While the control is shutting down, the light on the monitor will be blue. Wait until the light turns red; this could take a few minutes. Once the light has turned red, you are safe to shut off the external power to your machine.
